Beads of Courage

Beads of Courage is an extraordinary international program that allows children to have a sense of accomplishment, and rewards for the hardships they endure when undergoing treatment for cancer.

Children tell their story using colourful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones they have achieved along their unique treatment path.  Act of Courage Beads are artist-made beads (like mine) that are given to acknowledge the milestones in a child's treatment journey.  Purple Hearts are given at the completion of treatment and are very special as they symbolise the child beating cancer.  Butterfly beads are given to the parents of a child who has lost the battle with cancer.

I make and donate beads to the New Zealand Child Cancer Foundation to support this program.
