Hello and welcome. My name is Bobbie Pene and I am the creator of all these beautiful things.
I have always had a creative outlet of some sort - dabbling with jewelry making of various forms since my school days, as well as fiber and paper arts and crafts. More recently, I began exploring jewelry making further, and by chance I found the Born to Bead studio and its curator - Lisa-Jane Harvey. Lisa-Jane taught me the invaluable basics to lampworking, and I have since developed these skills through countless hours of practice. There is magic captured in each bead I create, and I love the curiosity that glass beads offer to the people who peruse them. I now have a studio in my home here in Pukekohe, Franklin, New Zealand, where I can create lampwork glass beads, and gorgeous jewelry and accessories.
I have searched the globe for quality components to use in my creations - my favorites being Swarovski crystals and pearls, natural gemstones, Czech pressed and fire polished glass, a range of metals, and of course my own lampwork beads. Most importantly, all my creations are instilled with care and love.
Inspiration is drawn from the everyday things around me, my moods, and of course by the materials I select to use in each creation. There is no particular style or technique I adhere too - one day I may be drawn to design pieces inspired by the warm, rich vintage and rustic styles, and the next I create more contemporary and playful pieces. I also enjoy creating unique one of a kind custom designs. I can say most of my work is multi-functional and can be worn as casual wear or to accessorize that special occasion.
I must also give credit to artists who have inspired both my lampwork and jewelry creations, Lydia Muell, Dustin Tabor, Sarah Hornik, and the many people who are part of the Etsy community.
Thank you for visiting
