Lampwork Glass Bead Artist
Hello and welcome. I live in Pokeno, New Zealand and have a background in nursing. I have had various creative outlets in my life and in early 2009, I discovered the art of glass bead making (lampwork). I love using glass as a creative medium; the design and color possibilities are endless. I don't have a set style, although the "tree bead" series is a signature style of mine. I also love encased beads created with multiple layers of glass and inclusions captured beneath a clear encasing. I love to explore different techniques and push the boundaries of colour, design and execution. Because each bead is completely made by hand, each is unique and no two will ever be exactly the same. This is the beauty and quirkiness of handcraft - knowing that no matter how hard you try, you cannot replicate a glass bead.
Thank you for supporting handmade.
A look inside Bobbie's Studio
I use sodalime glass to create the beads, and a Mini Carlisle CC torch for melting glass. All beads are annealed in an AF1313 Kiln from Arrowsprings. I love tools and have various bead presses and shaping tools. While small in size, my studio is more than adequate to create gorgeous miniature works of art.
